Throughout our histories nations have fallen prey to the nefarious designs of authoritarian regimes. I often wonder why, when a society becomes rudderless and lost, it resists drawing from the lessons of the past and learning from the mistakes of the forebears. Here's a song about just that. Though it is serious in content it is upbeat in tone.

In 1974 H.I.M Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia was overthrown in a coup d'etat. The country was ruled by a Marxist military government for the ensuing 17 years.
As a boy during this period, living with my family in Addis Ababa, I recall the mood of uncertainty, fear, and dread that came with the revolution. This is a song about that time.
